Safety is now positioned as a strategic imperative. |
Using Safety as a Lever for Cultural ChangeThe Client IssueOur Client's workers compensation premiums were rapidly rising, claims were on the increase and there was no integrated approach to health and safety across the business. There was inconsistency in the messages and the processes, a lack of accountability and an ad hoc approach to systems. This was resulting in LTIFR (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate) being at an unacceptably high level. Every day someone was being injured or harmed in the business. Furthermore, the new CEO was seeking to change the culture and position the company for growth. Our Approach Outcome Having worked closely with our client and developed a Safety BluePrint for success, and designed a new centralised safety function, the organization underwent a significant culture shift. Safety is now positioned as a strategic imperative. There is a passion for and ownership of safety which has been integrated into all business processes. There is one streamlined system and approach. The key indicators including LTIFR, injuries, claims and workers
compensation premiums are now showing positive trends. Our client is
continuing on their safety journey and is now focusing their attention on
implementing the technology required to further support their efforts and
rolling out the education and support programme to the entire
organisation. | |
